Vintage Omega Constellation Jumbo 168.001 Gold Cap 1966

A rare watch in a rare configuration, complemented by a rare buckle. That’s the best way to describe this 37mm jumbo Constellation, type “168.001”. Watches with this designation were only produced for a very limited period in the 1960’s. Adding to the rarity as a consequence of the short production period, this particular model is gold capped – which makes a similar watch to this one even rarer to find. Usually paired with a 16mm buckle, our offering has a 18 mm gold plated buckle, nicely balancing out the jumbo case diameter on your wrist. For the era, the size of 37mm made this watch a true behemoth. However, with average case diameters moving up through the decades, the case size now still perfectly fits in the modern era.
At the heart of this extremely rare combination of classic Constellation features, beats a no.561 Omega movement. This movement features modern traits like a date complication and 24 jewels making this beautiful and rare watch from the 1966 perfect for you 2021 day-to-day life.

What we love:
-Original crystal, rare 18mm gold plated buckle, and crown
-Great condition overall
-Rare jumbo case size

What you should know:

OMEGA Constellation

First appearing in 1952, the Constellation was designed to be Omega’s main watch. This was the brand’s first mass-produced chronometer grade wristwatch and the brainchild of designer René Bannwart. The Constellation was originally called the ‘Globemaster’ in the USA, though it was dropped in 1956 as Douglas Aircraft, manufacturers of the huge transport planes of the same name, held the trademark on the name.
