Vintage Omega Seamaster de Ville Grey Dial US Market 1965

Mint Omega Seamaster De Ville Automatic for the US market only. Fitted in an American (Ross) made stainless steel case with 14K yellow gold lugs and bezel. This particular watch has been produced by Ross, which was located in Long Island NY, and at the time produced cases for several swiss watch manufacturers to avoid high import taxes on precious metals. The reference number is LL6066 with the extra 62703 Ross case reference. The watch is powered by the automatic caliber 550 movement with sweep second. This piece dates back to about 1965 and is in beautiful condition for its age. The case is is in perfect condition as is the original Omega signed crown and the original Omega signed acrylic crystal. To top it off this Seamaster de Ville has a very rare grey dial with applied 14K golden hands, indices and Omega text and logo. The grey dial really pairs well with the golden details and really is a rarely seen combination. This is your chance to own a highly rare, US only, Seamaster de Ville that is in mint condition and won’t pass your eyes again.

A crucial year for Omega as NASA invited Omega, as one of 4 watch manufacturers, to produce timepieces for NASA certification. Only one watch survived: The all-known Omega speedmaster. It was certified for all manned space missions and extravehicular activity.

Even now, the original Omega Speedmaster is the only watch certified for extravehicular activity by NASA. A true breakthrough in watchmaking.
