Vintage Omega Seamaster Unique Blue Dial 2938-2 SC 1956

1,175

A beautiful 1956 (serial number 15xxxxxx) Seamaster with astonishing light blue dial. From the text “swiss” instead of “swiss made” we deduce that it was made for the North American market (this seems to be the consensus about the meaning of only swiss in omega watches at the moment ). It is a manual wound movement with caliber 284. The crown is periodically correct for the watch and the acrylic crystal has been serviced. The reference number is 2938-2 SC and this piece has some amazing dotted lumes on the 3-6-9-12 positions and on the spear indices. The movement is beautifully clean and runs well. A very professionally refurbished dial leaves us with an amazing and very unique watch.

What we love:

  • Amazing blue dial
  • Clear dotted lumes
  • Very unique timepiece

What you should know:

  • Only the best is good enough. A professionally refurbished dial brings the watch back to its former glory.
  • Although the case is in great state, there are some small dotted marks on the case-back, some scratches on the right lug area and opening marks on the left side of the case

OMEGA IN 1956

The olympic games of 1956 were held in Melbourne that year. Of course Omega was the official timekeeper en managed to get 2 and a half tonnes of equipment on a boat to Australia. The equipment featured a lot of special timekeeping instruments which were insured for more than a million Francs.

It included the, beautifully named, Swim Eight-O-Matic timer. Which could determine swim results.
