OMEGA IN 1974

In 1974 Omega launched the Megaquartz. The movemement took a while to develop but ultimately was rewarded with the title “Marine Chronometer”. It is the world’s first and, to this day, only wristwatch with this certification.

Before Computers became mainstream, Marine Chronometers were crucial for navigation on ships. Without it a ship could be lost so it needed to be extremely accurate (less than 0.002 seconds of variation per day).
