Since its founding in 1848, Omega has created some of the world’s most exquisite and timeless watches. The Swiss luxury brand is renowned for its iconic Seamaster and Constellation collections, which have been popular since their respective launches in 1948 and 1952.
In 1962, Omega introduced the stainless steel manually wound centre seconds timepiece Reference 135.010 – a classic vintage watch that would go on to become an iconic piece of the Omega collection. This late 1960s example captures all of the design elements and craftsmanship that made Omega watches so renowned throughout history: a traditional silvered dial with attached indices complemented by the Omega calibre 601 movement. By “branding” this timepiece as a Seamaster de Ville, Omega highlighted the watch’s sporting aspect (for which the Seamaster range was renowned) and drew inspiration from its traditional, dress-style appearance. With luminous hands and numerals surrounded by a robust 33,5mm stainless steel case, this watch was an instant success.
Today, the Ref. 135.010 is highly sought after amongst vintage watch collectors for its timeless design and craftsmanship that has stood the test of time. It is without doubt one of Omega’s most iconic watches and remains a lasting symbol of Swiss luxury craftsmanship to this day.
