Vintage Omega Seamaster 300 Diver ST 165.024 from 1968

Ever since the 1930s Omega has had a desire to create the perfect dive watch. With their first dive watch the Omega ¨Marine¨ being an instant success Omega`s watchmakers started improving on their design. Many iterations later Omega launched the seamaster 300 line in 1957, a direct competitor to other popular divers at the time. The Seamaster 300 combines legibility with robustness creating the perfect look for every professional diver.

This specific Omega Seamaster 300 ST 165.024 was made in 1968 for the Italian market. Placed inside the big 41.5mm stainless steel case sits the automatic Omega 552 movement which is running perfectly. The dial on this watch was made to be easily readable under water and thus has a minute track, 3,6,9,12 hour indicators and big lume plots which have an awesome dark mustard patina relume. The ¨Sword¨ hands with relumed patinated lume are a much-appreciated feature by collectors. To top it all off the well-aged bakelite bezel is still in good condition and makes this truly a vintage watch collectors dream! The condition of this watch is good, with little to no scratches on the case and thick lugs. The bakelite bezel has a crack at the ´30´ position as seen on many bakelite bezels from this time and the crystal has some minor scratches. This watch comes on a beige NATO strap and comes with the extract of the archives.

What we love:

  • Bakelite bezel in good shape
  • Awesome relumed patina on both hands and dial
  • Extract of the archives

What you should know:

  • Crack in bezel at the ´30´ position
  • Minor scratches on crystal

OMEGA Seamaster

back to 1948, the birth year of the Seamaster CK 2518. The model, when released, was to be a tribute to the 100th anniversary of the company. What made the Seamaster revolutionary at the time was its use of a rubber gasket for its water resistance. The technology was the same used in submarines at that time and remains in use even today.
